Give away books by reading at home!

I just found a great website and resource that I had to share! If you are interested in reading books with your child, then look no further than WE GIVE BOOKS (a Pearson Foundation Initiative - http://www.wegivebooks.org). This website has tons of children's books online that you can read. By reading these books, you are also donating a book for every one you read to someone who does not have books! You also can choose the campaign you want to have your books donated to. (Tinga Tinga Tales, America's Children's Museum on Wheels: StoryBus, LEAP Into a Great Story - LCPBC, Read for Chicago Public Schools, & Jumpstart for Young Children)

I encourage you and your child to sit down and read some of these classic children books. If you click on the "books" section, and then select the tab "all books," you can then browse by age. For 4th grade, I suggest the age range between 8-10. If you have younger children, it would be great to have your 4th grader read some of the easier picture books to them!

Again - visit http://www.wegivebooks.org!

Happy Reading! : )

About Me

My photo
I have always known that my career would involve working with children. I volunteered and worked with a summer camp in Derby, KS for eight summers, to which I owe my games and song collection that are popularly used in the classroom. I am an alumna of the sorority Alpha Gamma Delta and the University of Kansas. I have been happily married for over two years to my best friend, Eric. Together, we share a three year old beagle, Ellie May. I enjoy reading, playing board games, and watching Grey’s Anatomy. I am so grateful to do what I love everyday. I cannot wait to teach this new group of 4th graders!
